A hungry child is not able to learn

Professor Nowak Foundation supported children heavily affected by the COVID-19 pandemic in Sri Lanka in cooperation with the Shilpa Shakthi Foundation

During the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, Professor Nowak Foundation funded a project conducted by Shilpa Shakti Foundation which aims to support children any form of decent meal. The project provided food for 32 selected children from different parts of the country for a period of 6 months (June-November 2020).
These children are from the households that live in near poverty circumstances and the pandemic has been affecting their life even further. For instance, because their parents lose their job p.e. as tea labourers and, due to their living conditions, they are more at risk of becoming infected with the virus. Supporting 32 children meant that we reached at least 130 persons in their families or communities.

Through this project, we also learnt further about the living condition of the children, the difficulties they are facing, and how some of them can be supported even further for their education.
